They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I was so taken by Tony's bandsawn/scrollsawn boxes that I decided to have a go too.

This is how it turned out, cut freehand:

It's not as impressive as one of Tony's boxes, but I'm happy with it considering I've just used a small offcut for my first attempt.

Since it's not very big, I won't be fitting furniture to the drawers. I learned some important lessons with this project, such as bothering to change the bandsaw blade for one with a less aggressive set. Also, I routed out the drawers instead of cutting off the front and back, removing the waste, then re-assembling them. Still, it was enjoyable to make and I'm sure I'll be a bit more ambitious with future projects.

Well done. When can we expect the next work?

Rather than worrying about fitting furniture consider drilling holes (Forstner bit) in the back of the box to enable the user to open the drawer?

That's a grand idea, Tony; I'll do it next time .

I don't know how long it'll be before the next project arrives. My productivity improves with the temperature, and right now it's freezing!

Weather here in God's Country - fine, mild humidity, average 27 to 32 centigrade each day. Great for working in a tee shirt and shorts!

Just makes you wish you were here?

Am I promoting Australia - of course. Yes we are short of water, but it is amazing how plants and flowers are surviving, at least for the moment. Prospects of rain are gooood?

We had some of that white stuff from the sky today. Australia certainly has its attractions at this time of year.
