Peter, The image box is there but the image is not visible.Looking at your image properties it has an address on your computer in your documents and settings folder under a folder named 'Pete'. This explains why you can see it but none of us can. You need to upload images to either your own web space or a photo hosting service like Fotopic. Once uploaded, you can then specify the URL address of the image where you uploaded it to using the 'Insert Image' feature when posting.
Here's the address of Fotopic and I can recommend it as a good and free photo hosting service where they give 250mb of space and very few restrictions.

No problem now Peter ! That's a nice cute cuddly bear and it looks great. I've never tried intarsia but it looks like you're the man to get tips from |

| I have made over 100 and still find it fun. The largest was about 5ft x 3ft. I try to use only english woods, not always posible to get the right colour. Then I use 20 to 30 coats of pale french polish, sanding each coat off then reapplying. This gives a deep finish, finally a beewax polish. |

Wow....5ft x 3ft and up to 30 coats of french polish ! That sounds like an awesome piece of intarsia work. With talk of Teak and french polish it takes me back to my early days (early seventies)when I worked at the Mayfair Hotel in the West End of London.I learned my trade of joiner there in the carpenters shop and one project was a 6ft long x 2ft wide x 1.1/4" thick 3 tier Teak flower box for the reception area. We had the luxury of an in-house french polisher to do the finishing but it looked great when it was finished. I've not seen a piece of teak for many years as it's more rare than a Dodo now! |

Fantastic a lot of work obviously. hey Alan do you think that box is still on the reception? wouldn't it be fun to find out? It could be worth a phone call, they could send us a photo! Quite cool eh? Peter do you name them all?? |

Sorry about the delay in answering, I only work at weekends, and have a rest to get on with cutting during the week. The teak and mahogany I get from reclamation yards, other woods from various chippies who feed me off cuts. But the bulk of the wood comes from wood yards, that way I get the weird patterns and knots that give a good figure. The knots make for fun cutting. The bears don't have a name as I make them to sell, that pays for the timber to make the pictures that I like. The bears are too cute for me. They take about a week to make from scratch and including the polishing. Not all the wood is 2 to 3 inch thick on average it's about 1 - 1.5 inch. The spectacles I cut first then draw on to the wood to be cut, becuse the diamond is so good the cut 9 times out of 10 fits perfectly. This is another pic, its a scanned photo so the quality is not so good. This intarsia is about 2 ft tall.
